On this day, let's not just honor our Veterans, but also tell their stories.

Letter from the Editor:

This morning, when researching the news outlets online to see if anyone covered a story about a local veteran-owned business, I came up short.

After doing some more research online looking for a story to share today, I ran across Stephen Paul Campos' Facebook page on my feed. I thought to myself, Stephen's story is a great story to share this Veterans Day.

Stephen is the brother of a close friend and my mentor Roger Campos, who I’ve known for almost two decades now.

I first met Stephen in 2005 when he lived in Baltimore. He was the manager of a well-known Mexican restaurant in the heart of the Hispanic community. But I quickly learned two things about Stephen. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War, and like his father and brother, he was an entrepreneur too.

His stay in Baltimore was brief, and since leaving Baltimore, Stephen Paul Campos has written several books about his experience in Vietnam and life after war. These books include Charlie Doesn't Live Here Anymore: Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends, When Johnny or Jane Come Home After War: What military, veterans, and families need to know, and Stone Pony to name a few.

In his latest book, Senor Campos: Mexican Recipes & Family Secrets he shares with his audience his family recipes as well as tells the story of his father, who was a pioneer in the Mexican food industry in the Central Valley Area of California. You can also taste his family's Restaurant Style Salsa, by visiting his website Senor Campos Salsa.

Let's not just honor these men and women who have served this great nation, but also share with others their stories. As an entrepreneur and small business advocate, I wanted to honor Stephen Paul Campos for his service and for dedicating his life to helping his fellow veterans.
